At the beginning of September, Oskari Viitaniemi started in our lighting component sales team as a category leader for power supplies. He will bring a lot of knowledge of sales and logistics to the team with his great experience in the field. His time will mainly go into sales, but he will be also part of the product development team.
We want to introduce Oskari to you better, so we will be asking him a few questions.
What is your role and what does it entail?
I am a category leader. My responsibilities will sharpen in the following months, but I’m part of the sales team and I will get one product category to lead. The last month I have been working a lot with LED drivers and with aLED AURA+ series, so maybe that will give a little bit of clue.
What drew you to the company?
The LED industry has always fascinated me. There are so many new things to learn about LED lighting which intrigued me. Also, I believe lighting is very important in our lives and a good chance to save energy.
How do you feel so far after 3 weeks of working here?
I am very excited, but to be honest, last month has been tough as I started in a new company, a new role, and a new field. There is a lot to learn. Although, it will take a while for me to learn everything I need to know as it is not possible to learn everything all at once.
You have received a lot of training these past few weeks, what is the most interesting thing you have learned so far?
I think the most interesting thing I have learned is colour rendering Index because I had never heard of it before coming here. It is interesting how much a small change in the value affects the light quality.
What are some of the new things you have learned and is there anything that has affected the way you might think or changed your view on things?
Previously, I thought any LED light you buy from the store is the best you can get but now I know what to look out for when buying them and that has changed the way I shop for light-related products, and also my view of the lighting industry. It is more complex than I initially thought.
What do you find most interesting in the lighting industry?
The almost complex amount of possibilities to light up the world. Like different features in drivers will give you different results in the controlling light.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any fun facts?
I like to play disc golf, ride my bike in the woods and play sports. Friends are very important to me, so I like to hang out with them and do sports with them.
Do you have a favourite product yet?
Yes, I have already fallen in love with the aLED AURA+ drivers. I think they are great and quality drivers for different kinds of lighting applications. If I had to choose a driver, I would probably choose a DIP switch driver, because of its flexibility.
What do you find most challenging so far?
Not most challenging but most time-consuming is to understand the lighting industry language and also to find the right solutions for a customer.
Is there anything you would like to say to our customers?
So far, I have noticed that we have great knowledge and an amazing team spirit in the office so our customers shouldn’t hesitate to ask us for help.
Now we are almost at the end of the year. What do you especially expect from the year 2022?
I am not very sure yet. I want to get deeper into the industry this autumn. As I gain more knowledge, then I think I will know what to expect.
